Overview: Staffing Pros, a division of VETS Inc., is recruiting for a Tax Accountant in Gaithersburg, MD.

Responsibilities:

• Support various special projects and assist with ad hoc tax assignments as needed in all areas of tax, including assistance with research & development studies, oversight of the fixed assets tax ledger, tax notice correspondence, etc.
• Support sales and use tax return processing including monthly return administration, tax and business licenses, resale certificates, and file maintenance.
• Assist with Sales, use, and property tax notices, audits and appeals
• Filing in-house personal property tax returns, checking assessments and paying tax bills.
• Perform account reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of federal and state income tax returns

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Accounting
• 1-3 years of experience

Preferred Experience:

• Ability to exercise judgment with defined procedures and practices
• Demonstrate proactive behavior/involvement to make recommendations and facilitate decision making
• Familiarity with OneSource Tax Provision Software, CorpTax, Sage Fixed Assets, and Vertex tax software is a plus
• Ability to write tax position papers and technical memos to support Company's tax positions
