Job Summary

The Talent and Development Specialist reports directly to the Senior Director of Talent and Development - Corporate & Foodbuy. Working closely with sector operators and HR leaders, this position liaises to assist in the implementation of programs that aim to attract, measure, develop and manage an organization’s talent pool. The specialist helps management evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s talent strategies. The specialist will align talent to training or development programs and provide recommendations to ensure organizational goals are met. They also ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets by tracking overall performance and providing regular updates.
This role supports the design, documentation and implementation of programs and processes for workforce planning, performance management, talent reviews, organizational learning strategy, employee assessment, and succession planning. They also collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to make recommendations related to talent and development initiatives across the Corporate & Foodbuy sectors. The specialist regularly partners with Talent Acquisition, Diversity and Inclusion and Human Resource Business Partners to deliver solutions aimed at identifying employee readiness, talent gaps, and retention risks among high potential associate populations across the organization.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collects and compiles HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS), VISIER, MyLMS, management and employee surveys, employment records and other sources.
  • Provides support and/or drives execution of core talent management processes (ie: performance management, talent reviews and succession planning).
  • Uses data and industry research to identify and recommend reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics related to talent and development initiatives across the Corporate & Foodbuy sectors.
  • Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture in order to attract, engage and retain top talent.
  • Evaluates talent and development program offerings for alignment with Corporate & Foodbuy sector key business drivers to support continuous improvement.
  • Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to management.
  • Troubleshoots issues and maintains consistent communication to ensure an excellent internal and external customer experience.
  • Facilitates small group, special needs training sessions as required to support sector engagement in talent-based activities (i.e. talent reviews, modified performance management process housekeeping, etc.)
  • Support T&D projects, programs and strategic initiatives as required.

Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and LMS system for the primary purpose of compiling data and running reports,
  • Experience interacting with senior leaders and facilitating meetings.
  • Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills.
  • 1-3 years of human resource generalist experience preferred.
