Position Summary:
Leading Trust for Public Land (TPL) recruitment efforts and reporting to the Associate Director of People and Culture, the Talent Acquisition Manager adds much needed capacity to our fast-growing organization. In collaboration with the People and Culture team and hiring managers, the Talent Acquisition Manager will manage the full-cycle recruitment process - responsible for everything from creating robust candidate pools to evaluating resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews to managing the reference check, offer and onboarding processes.
In addition to leading the recruiting efforts of the organization, the Talent Acquisition Manager will drive programs focused on Internship and Fellowship development and management. Those efforts will enable us to expand internship and fellowship opportunities and better position more interns and fellows to become full time staff members at TPL.

This position will also be critical in identifying system and process improvements, and implementation of recruitment best practices, ensuring we make the best use of our applicant tracking system and communications.

We are open to location - ideally close to a TPL office, which are listed at tpl.org.

Essential Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Process Management – 60%
  • In collaboration with VP and AD, People and Culture, prioritize timing of openings with a focus on managing mission-critical initiatives and relevant roles for just in time hiring
  • Partner with hiring managers to craft selection approach, including building candidate profiles, identifying role-specific posting sites and determining interview participants/guides
  • Market vacancies and source passive candidates from LinkedIn and other social media outlets, using traditional and non-traditional resources to attract a diverse, quality talent pool
  • Actively research and stay informed of leading trends in recruiting best practices
  • Document recruitment efforts and candidate contacts via our applicant tracking system
  • Communicate regularly with People and Culture team and hiring managers, providing candidate summaries and recommendations
  • Review resumes and conducts phone screens to identify potential candidates for interview
  • Make sound recommendations to hiring managers on which candidates to advance beyond phone screens
  • Provide logistical support to recruitment efforts, including interview scheduling, debrief management, sending letters to candidates, etc.
  • Collaborate with People and Culture team on efforts to enhance recruitment processes and procedures
  • Support hiring managers with interview and selection tools, with a focus on developing hiring managers’ selection skills
  • Manage the reference check and offer processes, and support People and Culture team and hiring managers with initial onboarding support
  • Continuously assess processes for improvement, with a lens of internal efficacy and overall candidate experience.
  • Support VP and AD, People and Culture in evolving TPL’s employer value proposition
  • Run reports for annual Affirmative Action Plan review

Internship & Fellowship Program Support – 20%
  • Support the efforts of development and implantation of an Internship and Fellowship program
  • Document current internships and fellowships
  • Track alumni and work to connect them back to the organization
  • Share opportunities widely within the organization and work with hiring managers to identify intern/fellowship staffing needs and opportunities
  • Collaborate with the People and Culture team to develop programs to engage fellows and interns – to develop their skills and connection to each other and our mission.

HR Special Projects – 20%
  • Participation in TA and other People and Culture-related projects and process improvement efforts
  • People and Culture and other organizational activities as time, capacity and interest allow
Ideal Profile of Experience and Skills:
  • 2-4 year’s relevant experience in recruitment, HR, operations management or related fields. 1+ years’ experience managing full-cycle recruitment program/processes or similar
  • Organized, detail oriented, and a strategic process thinker
  • Familiarity with social media, especially LinkedIn. Knowledge of LinkedIn recruiter a plus.
  • Able to provide excellent customer experience both internally and externally, adhering to TPL’s shared values
  • Able to prioritize work in order to maintain momentum and meet organizational needs
  • Applied experience with all phases of the recruitment and hiring process highly preferred
  • Experience with interviewing with various types and levels of roles highly preferred
  • Experience with internship, volunteer, or service learning programs a plus
  • Strong communication skills – both oral and written
  • Familiarity with databases – data management, cleanup and report running
  • Must be proficient with basic computer functionality, Microsoft Office/Teams
  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision in performing routine tasks; seeks input as needed and able to take direction well
  • Travel may be required 1-4 times a year depending on business needs
  • Affinity for a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to interact in a highly collaborative fashion with a diverse set of people

OTHER INFORMATION

As a full-time, non-exempt employee, you will be eligible for The Trust for Public Land’s comprehensive benefits program which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, three weeks of vacation annually plus 10+ holidays, paid winter break, paid personal and community service days and a 403(b) retirement plan, currently with an up to 5.5% company match that increases to 7% effective 10/01/2022. The anticipated salary is $70,000-80,000 range but may vary depending on qualifications and experience.
