Job description
Under the supervision of the Manager, IT Systems, this position is responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, administering, and maintaining IT infrastructure systems, including, but not limited to virtual systems, servers, storage, and backups. Additional responsibilities comprise of assisting other teams, including, but not limited to, Network, Security, Clinical Applications, and Data Engineering. The System Administrator will participate in the technology selection of future hardware and software to upgrade existing IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities:- Researches, analyzes, designs, and implements optimized systems and infrastructure and implements solutions to highly complex systems issues in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Installs, maintains, analyzes, optimizes, upgrades, and decommissions physical servers and related hardware, SAN infrastructure, including FC and iSCSI transport layer, virtual server and desktop infrastructures, mail-messaging infrastructure and decommissions backup and replication infrastructure.
- Utilizes IT Service Management software to inventory, monitor, and administer virtual and physical server environments, install applications, updates, and security patches for desktops, servers, and related infrastructure.
- Utilizes monitoring tools to evaluate and optimize computer systems, storage systems, related infrastructure, alert, analyze, and resolve systems issues in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Develops, maintains, and updates automation scripts for larger tasks utilizing common scripting languages (e.g. VBScript, PowerShell, etc.), project plans and systems configuration documentation.
- Administers Active Directory, access control lists, distribution groups, group policies, DHCP, DNS, and related domain services and security groups to manage security across the infrastructure.
- Communicates unresolved issues to Systems Engineers for escalation when necessary and any other issues as needed.
- Provides excellent customer service and technical support to end-users as needed.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Management Information Systems required.
- Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in a desktop support role required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Systems Administration or higher role required.
- Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA or other certifications are preferred.
