Systems Administrator Level 1
This is an On-Site role 7am - 8pm Fri, Sat, Sun (Full time salary for 36 hr's
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Administration experience of Microsoft Windows Server administration and Active Directory environments
- Administration experience of at least one type of virtualization platform (ie. VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc).
- Administration experience of at least one type of Storage Operating System (ie. NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage)
- Comfortable performing in a process-oriented and change-controlled working atmosphere.
- Team player with the ability to communicate and present to non-technical audience.
- Solution-oriented, constructive approach to problem-solving.
- Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Demonstrable experience working across multiple technical disciplines.
- Associate degree in a technical discipline or 3 years of related experience.
Desired Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
- 3 years’ experience supporting applications and systems in a production environment
- Familiarity with VMware on HCI is a plus.
- Familiarity with AIX, Dell EMC, or Pure Storage solutions are a plus.
- Familiarity with Linux system administration.
- Working knowledge of at least one scripting language, ie. PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.
Core Function:
- Serve as an escalation point-person for IT challenges to step-in, troubleshoot, engage IT vendors (e.g., networking, storage, SaaS, IaaS vendors) and VARs with confidence and help to proactively resolve issues before they arise.
- Execute the systems maintenance plan, ensuring repeated tasks such as monitoring backups, patching systems, and performing test restores are being handled, looking for ways to automate and simplify where possible.
- Champion best practices for cybersecurity, by ensuring best practices like MFA, least-privilege access, Conditional Access are being followed.
- Proficient in operating remote management tools
- Proficient in ITSM ticketing management
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Detailed understanding of Active Directory in an enterprise setting including the schema, OU design, global catalog, group policy, Kerberos, LDAP, ADSI Edit, tombstone, and backing up / restoring Active Directory elements
- Knowledge of Windows Server technologies including ability to configure and troubleshoot redundant DFS, NPS, DHCP, DNS, DC services
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 product ecosystem including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
- Proven understanding of cybersecurity measures and best practices, such as multi-factor authentication, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo, and other RMM and automation tools, SSL certificates, encryption & public key infrastructure (PKI)
- Working knowledge of Azure including ability to design and implement redundant, scalable infrastructures and to perform premise-to-cloud/cloud-to-cloud migrations
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including the ability to capture and analyze packet data for troubleshooting purposes.
- Proven ability to design complex and redundant networks with multiple sites, locations, subnets, WAN and VPN technologies.
- Working knowledge with at least one scripting language (PowerShell preferred)
- Proven ability to analyze Azure cloud environments and propose recommendations for performance, and availability
- Knowledge of common cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST 800 and CIS Top 20
- Working experience configuring Linux systems, including OS install, filesystem management, backups and monitoring
