The Switchboard Operator operates the switchboard and various communication systems, paging and answering service systems and assists in clerical duties related to patient accounts data.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Answers all incoming calls
- Answers physician service calls and reaches physician with message.
- Operates paging system, program pagers and generates and maintains system reports.
- Maintains knowledge of all codes and alarm systems in switchboard area and the correct procedures pertaining to each one.
- Maintains knowledge of disaster telephone recovery and bypass switch.
- Provides information for patients, visitors and public.
- Assists in training and development of new switchboard personnel.
- Performs quarterly survey for Medicare reimbursement analysis based on actual switchboard activity.
Requirements of this position include:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
