SVP, AgriSompo International Operations Deputy (R748)
Job description
Lead, manage, design, and develop AgriSompo’s International agriculture business and have full responsibility for the overall risk portfolio and agriculture modelling. The geographical responsibilities will involve all regions outside of the U.S. but with a focus on the European, Asia Pacific and Latin American markets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day global agriculture operations, including:
- Work with management in setting and responsibility for execution of strategy for global agriculture business
- Responsible for management of profitable underwriting and analytics of global Agriculture reinsurance portfolio with a strong global market presence and ability to access opportunities
- Responsible for management of profitable underwriting and analytics of global Agriculture parametrics/weather portfolio
- Manage and enable team to execute on contract negotiations, pricing workflow, benchmarking, business planning and forecasting.
- Retain existing and develop new relationships and associated business
- Complete market studies on Agriculture risk and develop areas for further risk appetite
- Ensure appropriate utilization of capacities
- Work with Information Technology team to ensure technical tools and resources meet the business needs.
Position Requirements
- Mathematical/actuarial science degree PREFERRED with strong proven quantitative acumen.
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience in agriculture re/insurance business or other related fields.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in people leadership preferred.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with an ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks and should be able to work a flexible schedule.
- This position will involve a significant amount of time on analytical and development of risk management duties and as such the successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the re/insurance markets as well as being a clear thinker and problem solver.
- Broad international experience is required.
- The successful candidate must have excellent communication and negotiation skills and be an avid team player.
- Ability to travel internationally approximately up to 50% of the time.
