Supported Employment Specialists assist individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to obtain, maintain, and succeed in community integrated careers that are consistent with their vocational goals, interests, and abilities. The other part of this position will be teaching Pre-Employment Transition Services to students at Fayette County Schools to prepare them for transition into employment or post-secondary education.
Responsibilities:
- Assess skills, interests, abilities, etc. to write a comprehensive vocational profile (PCEP)
- Assist job seekers with applications and other job search tasks (Conduct job development and job search activities)
- Transport consumers to job interviews and other appointments as scheduled
- Prepare written and/or electronic reports daily and/or monthly depending on the requirements of the funding source
- Establish and nurture relationships with community resources and potential employers
- Communicate with clients, families, co-workers, and employers effectively
- Focus on a consumer’s strengths and encourage independence, job coaching as necessary
- Ability to negotiate job accommodations and provide long-term supports on the job
- Assure compliance as required with funding sources i.e. Office for Vocational Rehabilitation, OFB, Supports for Community Living Waiver, and Michelle P. Waiver
- Meet with student and teach a curriculum provided to prepare them for future employment and/or post-secondary education
- Meet with families and students to learn about interests, strengths, etc.
- Work with Office of Rehabilitation counselors, case managers, and school personnel to ensure good communication
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Include:
- Valid KY Driver’s License and personal vehicle
- Ability to communicate orally, in writing, and electronically
- Must be able to multi-task and maintain professionalism
- Understand Supported Employment, funding sources, social security benefits, and job coaching
- Computer literate, organized, and dependable
- CPR, First Aid, and extensive training provided
- Pass KARES Background check and drug screen
Rate of Pay:
Starting at Part-time, 20-30 hours per week, as caseload grows there is the potential for Full Time.
Education Requirements:
- HS Diploma w/ job related experience, Bachelor Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field preferred
Schedule:
- Hours each week vary, typical schedule of Mon-Fri and between 8:00a-5:00p, some weekends and evenings may be necessary

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
