Job Summary
Battelle’s Logistics and Ground Systems Business Line is seeking a Supply Technician located at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, GA.
This is an intermediate level position assigned to perform activities related to material receiving, kitting, warehousing and inventory management. Responsible for a safe, efficient and organized inventory management, material handling, material processing and operation with a focus on the adherence to government policies and local practices. This position works with contracted staff and resolves problems in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine unloading, sorting and packing of materials in storage.
- Stocks and moves material in appropriate locations.
- Kits job orders and delivers to alternate location as directed.
- Performs inventory cycle counts and inventory counts.
- Prepares products for movement and performs routine quality checks of products.
- Independently identifies and resolves low impact issues.
- Manages (enters, accesses, reviews, download/upload) logistics data within GCSS – Marine Corps logistics Information Technology System
- Unloads and processes all inbound deliveries.
- Provides certified shipping service for all modes of transport.
- Sources carriers and negotiates shipping modes and rates.
- Assists in resolving transportation freight claims for damages and shortages of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Handles supply inventory and tracking of accountable receipts and shipments with storage or additional handling requirements.
Key Qualifications
- Three years of related experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills including MS Windows and Office.
- Ability to learn and use GCSS- Marine Corps logistics tool.
- Ability to follow business processes, provide guidance to less experienced personnel and operate with general direction from more senior employees.
- Operating knowledge of pallet movers and various sized trucks as well as certification and licensing for forklift operation (or ability to obtain within reasonable time on the job).
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work overtime with 24 hours’ notice.
- US Citizenship
- May require ability to continuously bend, lift, and transport up to 100 pounds during the work shift.
- May require ability to stand and walk up to 50% of the work shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer experience working in an ISO-9000 and/or a military logistics or defense contractor environment.
