POSITION OVERVIEW
The Supply Chain Manager will establish, lead and execute a supply chain and procurement strategy. This role will oversee and drive strategic initiatives in all aspects of our supply chain that includes sourcing, supplier management, planning, procurement, inventory management, forecasting and costing, and will drive supply chain innovation that creates competitive advantage. As a leader, the Supply Chain Manager will coach their team in leadership and behavioral competencies in order to deliver high impact business results and support to the rest of the organization. The Manager will be a critical collaborator, integrator, communicator and catalyst across essential cross functional teams and initiatives that fuel the effective running and growth of the business.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Develop and implement the company's sourcing strategy by optimizing strategic partnerships with suppliers and distributors and negotiating contracts with key partners.
2. Define key process indicators and goals for each of Empire’s suppliers. Lead regular business, technical and quality reviews to maintain accountability to quality, delivery and cost targets.
3. Bring new, innovative ideas and opportunities in packaging, labeling, design and new technologies as it pertains to all of our product categories.
4. Works with team to develop short and long-term strategies for purchasing, that are based on best practice benchmarking and that are KPI driven.
5. Proactively and effectively partner, integrate, collaborate and communicate seamlessly with our China sourcing division to maximize timely, cost effective and innovative sourcing that benefits the smooth execution of company’s operating, marketing and financial plans.
6. Bridges the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process through collaboration with the leadership team, including sales, manufacturing, marketing and finance, to continually achieve focus, alignment and synchronization among all functions of the organization.
7. Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising supply chain personnel, with a key deliverable of upgrading talent, performance and professional management of supply chain function.
8. Take financial responsibility in reducing costs and lead times while optimizing inventory turns.
9. Works with team to negotiate requests for materials, supplies, and services from suppliers and co-manufacturers. Assess supplier performance through development of scorecards and quality audits.
10. Responsible for creating and adhering to internal purchasing specifications and implementing and executing a supplier qualification plan.
11. Take product technical and cost requirements and use that information to find the best suppliers based on technical capabilities, commercial suitability and cost.
12. Responsible for the external co-manufacturing and co-packing relationships assigning ownership to team members as applicable.
13. Continuously filter and synthesize information flow to all team members to ensure cross-functional alignment and visibility.
14. Critically integrate production scheduling to meet customer and business requirements.
15. Execute the dailies without losing sight of our supply chain vision and product roadmap.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement or Business.
2. A minimum of 2-4 years of progressive growth experience at a production company working in supplier management, contract negotiation or procurement is critical to success in this role.
3. Previous negotiating, contracting, and /or sourcing experience, as well as, an understanding of supplier capabilities and market place.
4. Candidates should have excellent understanding and in-depth knowledge of the entire supply chain management process in a manufacturing environment.
5. Flexibility to learn and adapt to new business and technical management tools as they emerge.
6. Experience in manufacturing in a CPG category for retail a plus
7. Proven track record leading teams to successful product delivery
8. Ability to make sound and timely judgments
9. Track record of improving team performance
10. Experience utilizing an ERP system to help manage the MRP
11. Excellent written and verbal skills
12. Excellent interpersonal skills – training, mentoring, coaching will be expected
