Job description
The corporate Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and improving suppliers and their performance. In addition, this role is responsible for assisting suppliers with their APQP process, qualifying new suppliers, auditing existing suppliers, verifying implementation of quality control plans, reviewing/approving supplier PPAP submissions and ensuring that there is a consistent quality expectation across the supply base.
This is an office-based role (not eligible for telecommuting) at our corporate HQ on the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington where the view and location are unmatched. Your office building overlooks the beautiful Columbia River, allowing you to take a break and enjoy the view of Mt. Hood.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and communicates ConMet Supplier Quality requirements/ manual to interested parties
- Manage Advance Product Quality Planning process with supplier and ensure that customer and IATF 16949 and, if applicable, ASPICE requirements, are complied with during the APQP process
- Manages and tracks supplier progress to a successful product launch
- Reviews, analyses, and approves supplier PPAP submissions.
- Works with purchasing and sourcing directors to select, qualify and maintain strategic global suppliers.
- Communicates and maintains supplier rating systems that can be used internally or externally for understanding of supplier on-going performance
- Identify and communicate supplier strengths and weaknesses to interested parties; develops and champions improvement plans as appropriate.
- Manages and reports on supplier quality. Provides the organization with regular objective evidence of supplier performance and improvements.
- Provides leadership and coaching for other departments regarding supplier quality activities.
- Visits suppliers: trains, verifies implementation of quality control plans and drives home quality expectations.
- Travels as required to support plants and/or supplier development.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum five years of experience in the field of quality
- Six sigma green belt. (Black belt certification preferred)
- IATF 16949 Auditor Certification in a course that meets ISO/IATF 16949 and customer requirements for Chrysler, Ford Motor Co., and General Motors Co.
- Experience with ASPICE supporting the development process for embedded software
- Electric vehicle and/or electric component manufacturing experience preferred.
