Success Counselor
Full Time
12 months per year; 35 hours per week
Salary Range- $45000- $48,500
*This is a 3 year Grant funded position, expected to end in August 2025*
Position Summary
The Success Counselor will assist students in educational planning with a particular focus on post-traditional / adult students, and on historically excluded populations enrolled in short-term, direct to workforce programs. The counselor will focus on student educational success including persistence, program completion, transition to employment, and post-completion pathways. The counselor will foster an environment that prepares students to develop a career path, professional skills, and an actionable plan post program completion. The Success Counselor will report to the Assistant Dean for Student Success
Primary Responsibilities
1. Manage a caseload of students, including a significant percentage of adult students and those representing historically excluded populations
2. Be trained in Mobility Mentoring and implement to targeted student groups.
3. Serve as the campus lead for implementing a holistic advising model at scale.
4. Advise students on program requirements that will ensure students have the resources needed to be successful in training program.
5. Leverage relationships between the College and local community-based organizations and employers aligned with programs being offered to Adult students.
6. Provide group advisement sessions, workshops and other activities to support student academic progress and employment/career planning.
7. Position will be primarily located at the Kingston Center with certain days scheduled at the Stone Ridge Campus. Kingston Center hours will be through the early evening and include some weekends.
8. Participate in outreach activities to historically excluded populations
9. Partner with multiple campus departments to support student success
10. Host mentoring events that lead to the creation of a professional network for students.
11. Attend Open Houses and Info Sessions targeted for adult students.
12. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree. Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in higher education counseling, advisement or related.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in higher education, counseling, education or a related field. Five years or more experience in higher education counseling, advisement or related preferred.
Salary:
Salary range is $45,000 - $48,500 per year. Full Time; 12 months per year; 35 hours per week. Evening hours required. All positions are contingent upon adequate funding. Current position covered under grant funds through August 2025.

This position is in SUNY Ulster’s Organization of Professional Administrative Personnel (OPAP) bargaining unit.
Offers of employment are contingent upon Board of Trustee approval.
