Department Summary
The Orientation and Transition Programs office at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator working with the Transfer Center. The office of Orientation and Transition Programs is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and provides new students, continuing students, and family members with the tools necessary to make a smooth transition to UNT and toward graduation.

Position Overview
This position supports programs, initiatives, and staff originating in the UNT Transfer Center.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
  • Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
  • Experience in networking across departments and programs.
  • Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.

Job Duties

o
Effectively coordinates and implements programming initiatives for new transfer students each fall and spring semester

o
Assists with the execution of Transfer and Spring Orientation sessions for new transfer students

o
Coordinates and implements the First Flight Transfer Experience program and other welcome week activities for transfer students

o
Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Eagle Connections mentoring program specific to new transfer students.

o
Effectively organizes and develops transfer communities for new transfer students each semester

o
Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Eagle Connections mentoring program specific to new transfer students

o
Effectively hires, terminates, organizes, trains, and evaluates paid student employees (Transfer Ambassadors)

o
Effectively hires, terminates, organizes, trains, and evaluates one paid Graduate Assistant

o
Plans the Eagle for a Day program for prospective transfer students each spring, summer, and fall in collaborations with Admissions

o
Serve as the department liaison with admissions by way of committee representation and representing the Transfer Center at prospective student events

o
Actively monitor and respond promptly to activity on the Transfer Center social media accounts, ensuring that questions from current and prospective students are answered.

o
Effectively advises and seeks to grow the Tau Sigma national honor society chapter at UNT and the campus student organization

o
Responsible for all marketing and outreach efforts of the Transfer Center including updating printed publications, coordinating tabling efforts at organized campus functions, and preparing a presentation during transfer tours

o
Actively monitor and respond promptly to activity on the Transfer Center social media accounts, ensuring that questions from current and prospective students are answered

o
Exhibits good judgment in decisions pertaining to fiscal matters

o
Establish learning outcomes for all programs, and actively contribute to the department’s assessment plan by completing program evaluations and executive summaries

o
Works collaboratively with various departments on campus in the development of programs

o
Attends training workshops/programs, when applicable, to improve knowledge and skills
