Position Summary
The Student Assistant assists with tasks performed in the School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM) Dean’s Office and will be assigned tasks and duties as needed for the SOM Clinical Affairs, Medical Education, Clinical and Applied Science Education, and Operations Departments. The work will be varied and assignments will be provided on a weekly basis.

Please note that this position is located at the School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM) campus about 15 minutes south of the Broadway Campus at 7615 Kennedy Hill Dr, San Antonio, TX 78235.

This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in SOM departments with various projects;
  • Assist staff and faculty with various administrative tasks;
  • Distribute mail daily;
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Computer skills, including the use of MS Word/Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Education
  • Current UIW student approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program
  • Due to the nature of this position, the selected candidate cannot be in or applying for the
  • DO/MBS programs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience assisting in a dynamic office environment

Work Hours
Hours will vary during normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. and as appropriate based on student’s class schedule each term.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to up to 25 pounds
