Student Financial Services (SFS) primary role is to manage all BYU accounts receivable. The department bills all amounts due from students (tuition, housing, etc.), applies payments, and collects past due accounts. Our team is a trusted business partner that collaborates with many campus areas and is part of the University CFO’s team. We aim to assist students in quickly addressing their financial obligations so they can focus on their Christ-centered education. Job Summary
This position is the primary liaison with Enrollment Services and other departments around campus who need assistance in order to solve specific Student Account issues. It performs detailed analysis of students’ accounts to answer questions and provide solutions. This position processes Church-related tuition benefits, departmental charges, and adjustments to student accounts. It also considers and approves routine fee exception petitions and proposes responses to the Fee Exception Committee for unusual petitions. It keeps Enrollment Services and other departments informed regarding changes in our systems and policies and provides training where appropriate.

- Manage Disbursement of LDS Employment/Service Dependent Tuition Benefits
- Class Deletion and Petition Process
- Review and decide on all petitions from Student Financial Services and Records/ Registration
- Process Alternative Loans
- Miscellaneous
Education/Experience
Minimum education/experience required:
- Associate degree in a field requiring numerical analysis skills plus 2 years of experience in a business setting OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or another field requiring numeric analysis plus 1 year in a university student finance or financial aid position
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
- Ability to analyze complex student account issues and explain details in an understandable fashion to non-accountant customers is required.
- Ability to anticipate questions and to understand the effect of various decisions made to resolve student account issues is required
- Excellent customer service skills are required
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing is required
- Solid proficiency with basic Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills is required
- Ability to explain and teach is required as this position trains other employees on policies and procedures related to this position
- Ability to analyze and interpret Federal regulations to ensure compliance with Title IV financial aid requirements is preferred
- Some experience with accounting principles is preferred i.e., basic knowledge of debits and credits and the reconciliation process
- Knowledge of Title IV regulations with regard to financial aid disbursement to students and refunding is preferred
