The Storage Administrator – Storage Area Networks (SANs) is responsible for supporting the Company’s existing storage environment, managing day to day storage related activities, following best practices, and providing improvements in process.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for all required Storage systems installations/upgrades, configurations and patches.
  • SAN Zoning, troubleshooting and port configurations.
  • Storage provisioning, SAN reclaims, break-fix issues and Migrations.
  • Replication setup and configurations.
  • DR Failover/Failback for disaster recovery activities.
  • Responsible for Storage Change Requests, service requests, tickets and deploy the changes during less impact timings.
  • Maintain the Isilon, XtremIO, Pure storage, Unity Storage arrays.
  • 24x7 On-call rotation for Storage support (Critical issues and Major alerts).
  • Storage Area Networking (SAN) team responsible for all required Storage systems installations/upgrades, configurations and patches.
  • SAN Zoning, troubleshooting and port configurations on Brocade SAN switches (DCX 8510).
  • Storage configurations, Storage provisioning, SAN reclaims, Migrations for all Linux servers, Windows, VMware ESXi Hosts in the environment.
  • SAN (XtremIO, Pure storage and UNITY storage arrays) reclaims for Capacity management.
  • Configure and set up SYNCIQ Isilon replication set up for Isilon storage arrays.
  • Perform the SAN storage DR failover and failback for application servers and fileshares.
  • X2 Native SAN replication setup and configure the protection sessions and consistency groups.
  • Responsible for Storage team Change Requests and deploy the changes during less impact timings.
  • Responsible for researching/implementing new technologies (SAN and NAS storage environment)
  • Maintain NAS storage arrays which are Isilon clusters and schedule the drive replacements with Vendor.
  • Responsible for incidents for storage requests, reclaims raised by server teams, Database teams.
  • Work with server and database teams to identify and validate the potential ASM LUNS that are unused and over provisioned to validate and reclaim them.
  • Troubleshoot Performance issues by validating reporting, IOPS, Read/write response times and overall storage arrays performance analysis.
  • Work with application support for requirements analysis and gathering the data for Storage set up and build the fileshares.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from a 4 year college or university
  • Minimum of one (1) year dedicated experience in building scalable, supportable, and stable storage environments.
  • Experience with Storage Area Networking (SAN) environment, NAS, SAN Fabric switches, Storage Provisioning and Reclaims.
  • Thorough understanding of storage replication, snapshots, and mirroring.
  • Experience on XtremIO, Isilon storage arrays and Brocade SAN switches.
  • Familiarity with storage connectivity to Linux and Microsoft platforms a must.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Senior Managers, customers, and co-workers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
