A global destination for artists and arts enthusiasts, Interlochen Center for the Arts nurtures creativity through five dynamic platforms: Interlochen Arts Camp, the renowned summer arts program; Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premier fine arts boarding high school; Interlochen Presents, a producer of more than 600 annual performances by internationally celebrated guest artists, Interlochen students, and faculty; Interlochen Public Radio, two listener-supported, 24-hour public radio stations (classical music and news); and Interlochen College of Creative Arts, a convener for lifelong learning in the arts.
As an integral part of Interlochen’s philanthropy program, the Stewardship and Events Coordinator works with the Manager of Stewardship and Events to foster lasting relationships between Interlochen and its benefactors, promoting positive attitudes toward giving among current, prospective and planned giving donors.

Assist with all donor recognition efforts including, but not limited to:

Stewardship:

  • Work closely with the Manager of Stewardship and Events to help implement a comprehensive donor relations, events, and stewardship program that appropriately and consistently promotes interaction with and recognition of donors.
  • Draft, customize, edit and mail letters for leadership and major donors through our enhanced letter program. Work also includes an annual master letter template refresh and additional donor correspondence as requested.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy colleagues to develop, manage and implement creative and personalized cultivation and stewardship plans for recognition of donors for special and restricted gifts.
  • Assist with the priority ticketing stewardship program. Assist with facilitating Box Office tickets for Philanthropy staff and donors/guests.
  • Oversee the recognition/tribute gift process, and other special stewardship efforts as assigned including an annual audit of named spaces
  • Assist the Manager of Stewardship and Events with scholarship donor stewardship including meet and greets with student recipients, scholarship mailings, and related events for both Camp and Academy
  • Devise and maintain consistent, accurate records, and implement appropriate information-sharing mechanisms for stewarding prospects and donors, event management, and scholarship, tracking in Salesforce, Trello, and the Philanthropy Google drive as well as any other campus communication platforms.

Events

  • Help plan, facilitate, and/or manage donor events, with a particular focus during the busy summer Camp season.
  • Assist in live and virtual event coordination at the request of the Manager of Stewardship and Events, including building event platforms in our data systems, drafting invitation and thank you emails, and managing RSVPs.
  • Create name tag mail merges and coordinate printing and readiness for events.

  • Oversee staff, volunteers and interns as assigned.
  • Maintain professional connections and interactions; keep current with industry best practices through professional development opportunities.
  • Evening/weekend work is sometimes required.
  • Occasional travel (seldom).

Problem Solving and Decision Making:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with organization and interpersonal skills.
  • This position requires an ability to think strategically about donor engagement. Excellent social skills, with large groups as well as with individuals, are required.
  • Proven skills and ability to implement multi-phase projects from inception to completion, including the ability to build consensus among team members and balance multiple concurrent priorities with donors, alumni, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Being detail oriented, well organized, focused, and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy, is essential, as well as being adept at problem solving and using judgment in situations requiring independent initiative and tact.

Required Experience:

A bachelor’s degree is required.

  • A minimum of two years experience, preferably in education (or a comparably complex organization), philanthropy, stewardship, non-profit work, or a related field.
  • A working knowledge of the Google Suite and Microsoft Office is required
  • Previous experience interacting with donors is preferred.
  • CRM knowledge is preferred, such as Salesforce.
  • Photoshop experience is preferred.
  • Weekend and evening hours will be required as needed.
