Minneapolis College is seeking a full-time, permanent, exempt Director of Finance to lead Business Services in the division of Finance and Operations. This position is in the State Program Administrator Manager Senior job classification.

This position provides leadership and expertise in the budget and financial affairs of the college. The person in this position provides management and direction to Business Office staff, develops policies and establishes procedures for all accounting functions, ensures adequate internal controls, and ensures compliance with state and federal laws.

Responsibilities also include financial reporting, procurement activities, fiscal projections, risk management, cash flow management, audit activities, grant accounting, accounts receivable and records retention.
Required Qualifications
  • Five years professional accounting experience and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to complete all duties of the position.
  • Thorough understanding of state accounting, budgeting and auditing principles and procedures sufficient to manage all financial and business office functions for the college.
  • Extensive experience in fiscal affairs, budget development, and monitoring, within a higher education and/or government setting sufficient to manage annual financial statement preparation and college budget process.
  • Extensive experience in personnel supervision within a higher education and/or government setting sufficient to set objectives, monitor performance, and direct the work of Business Office department staff and supervisors.
  • Extensive current knowledge of administrative management and public administration sufficient to manage financial functions of the college and maintain productive relationships with department employees and stakeholders.
  • Considerable knowledge of purchasing, utilization and maintenance of facilities and equipment sufficient to supervise the procurement, storage, and issuance of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Minnesota State colleges and universities system, SWIFT, SCUPPS, and SEMA4 systems and their interrelationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of statutory authority, organization, functions and objectives of the college’s Business Services department.
  • Working knowledge of financial aid accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Working knowledge of grant accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with Minnesota State coding structure.
  • Familiarity with Minnesota State financial policies and procedures.

Salary Range:
$39.35 – $56.61 hourly; $82,162 – $118,201 annually
Placement within the salary range for the State Program Administrator Manager Senior position is determined on the basis of relevant experience and in accordance with the 2021 – 2023 Managerial Plan.
