WSSU is seeking a Human Resources Specialist position in Talent Acquisition, position #070336. This position is responsible for the recruitment and employment hiring student, and non-student temporary employees in selected/designated areas/offices of the institution. The position provides guidance and training to hiring managers/HR liaisons in campus units on procedures to post and fill positions. As needed/requested provides information to individuals interested in employment at Winston-Salem State University. The position requires knowledge of personnel policies and procedures of the University of North Carolina System and the State of North Carolina Human Resources System as well as federal employment laws, rules, and regulations.
This position works closely with the HR Consultants in Talent Acquisition and the Records Management Specialist, entering data for new employee setup, position setup, and changes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. The Staffing/Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for direct recruitment and employment hiring student, and non-student temporary employees in selected/designated areas/offices within the institution.

2. The incumbent is responsible for working with managers, work unit/divisional professionals, and institutional administrators to affect their requested employment actions.

3. Knowledge of HR theories, best practices, trends, methodologies, and institutional/system/state and federal laws/regulations are to be applied consistently.

4. Ability to strategize, plan, and implement employment activities that support and leverage institutional, divisional, and work unit priorities and advise accordingly is a critical responsibility.

5. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills are imperative for this role.

6. The specialist must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and organize competing deadlines.

Minimum qualifications are graduation from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Prefer a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience as a full-cycle employment/talent acquisition professional.

The Office of Human Resources delivers professional HR services and programs to the Winston-Salem State University campus. The office is responsible for the institution’s programs in benefits, staffing and talent acquisition, classification and compensation, employee relations, training, professional development, and performance management, as well as leave administration, position management, and unemployment compensation.

Pay: $41,118.00 - $51,645.00 per year
