The Clinical Educator embodies the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Nursing Professional Development and provides for their implementation. The Nursing Professional Development Clinical Educator promotes excellence and innovation in nursing care and contributes to the growth and development of nursing staff through education activities and facilitates the application of nursing theory to clinical practice consistent with all regulatory agencies, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, the Association for Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards of Practice. The Nursing Professional Development Clinical Educator works with the medical and nursing staff and other hospital departments in a collegial and collaborative relationship to ensure safe care to patients through compliance with unit policies, procedures and protocols. The Nursing Professional Development Clinical Educator counsels and coaches nurses when problems arise in clinical practice.
Position Summary
This clinical educator role provides an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding education department to facilitate change from implementing a new EMR and supporting a dynamic executive team in cultivating clinical excellence recognition. The peri-operative educator will appreciate flexible hours and membership on a supportive team of creative problem-solvers. With the support of an established team, this opportunity allows the hired candidate to define a construct for and an environment of clinical excellence and growth utilizing evidenced based practice guidelines. The ideal candidate is present in the clinical environment and serves a model for professional practice.
- EDUCATION:
- MSN required or BSN with MSN matriculation required. Individuals enrolled in a BSN to MSN program will be considered; MSN must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
- Registration and current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standing required.
- BLS required.
- CNOR preferred.
- EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 4 years RN clinical experience required. Minimum of 2-3 years specialty area experience required; teaching experience highly desirable.
- The successful candidate must have recent OR/PACU experience and hold CNOR certification as well as experience providing education activities relevant to professional issues and trends in peri-operative nursing.
- SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to organize responsibilities, make decisions, advocate for new orientees' learning needs, set limits, demonstrate critical thinking and manage projects.
