POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for completing the accounting functions of Pacific Coast Companies, Inc. on an accurate and timely basis within the framework of the objectives and policies established by the PCCI CFO. May also perform the Accountant I duties along with responsibilities listed below. Performs other duties as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the guidance of the Accounting Supervisor/Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: may include some or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepares monthly financial statements to include preparation of monthly balance sheet, income statement, reports on changes in financial position/budget variances.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
- Coordinates monthly closing and production of financial statements.
- Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting materials.
- Assists outside auditors at year-end to include preparing schedules, invoices, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Downloads daily banking reports and reconciles as needed.
- Prepares daily banking reports.
- Responsible for daily wiring of funds.
- Responsible for tax related wires.
- May be responsible for one or more of the following: Fixed Asset Accounting; Benefit Plan Accounting; State and Local Tax Accounting; Income Tax Accounting; or Treasury Accounting.
- Abides by all safety rules set forth by company and government regulatory agencies and ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and two (2) to four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, co-workers, and vendors.
- Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Must be able to operate a personal computer and other various standard office machines and equipment necessary to complete duties. Must have good knowledge of accounting and general ledger system.
