Western Bank is a full service Community Bank that has 4 branches serving Southwest New Mexico and Southeast Arizona. Our Main office is located in Lordsburg, NM. Other offices are in Silver City, NM and Willcox and Bisbee, AZ. Candidates will be considered by applicants that can reasonably commute to our Lordsburg and/or Silver City office.
Staff Accountant Opening
Description: Prepare, reconcile and audit various electronic accounting records, reports and statements.
Perform daily monitoring of bank liquidity and other operational accounts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: With or without reasonable accommodation must be able to perform all essential job functions as described below.
- Maintain and reconcile bank and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare periodic certifications, as assigned.
- Assist in preparation of external financial, operating and regulatory reports.
- Prepare schedules and assist in compiling information for audits and exams.
- Assist in calculation of monthly tax accounts.
- Identify and process appropriate accounting entries dealing with accruals, investments, fixed assets, payroll, correspondent bank accounts and miscellaneous asset and liability accounts.
- Prepare internal operating and status reports for management.
- Calculate and monitor bank liquidity, purchase/sell Fed Funds, as appropriate, post entries and maintain positive status with correspondent banks and Federal Reserve Bank accounts.
- Compile/review schedules for monthly board package.
- Utilize Data Management Software to gather and report on information for multiple bank departments.
- Perform FASB and GAAP research.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Vendor Management to include managing contract terms and conditions, audit and financial review
- Accounts Payable, ordering
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Friendly, flexible team player.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheet functions.
- Knowledge of FASB and GAAP codes and principles.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for data research and analysis.
- Ability to interpret financial data and identify correlations.
- Computer proficiency, including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Knowledge of database concepts and data extraction.
- Strong commitment to detail and organization.
- Proficiency at speaking, reading and writing English.
Experience and/or Education:
- Accounting degree or will be graduating with an Accounting degree in 2023.
