Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with preparing journal entries, invoice to cash collection as well as general tasks related to accounting. This role is also responsible for assisting the Accounting & Finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records. We need somebody who is high energy with good follow-up skills, well organized and great attention to detail.

This position will be an in-office role in Rochester, NY with the ability to work on a Hybrid basis after a 90 day training period.

Duties and Responsibilities of the job:

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
  • Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers
  • Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls. Also ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
  • Cash receivables collecting, tracking, and reporting
  • Proactively and continuously reaching out to clients for status updates on receivables
  • General correspondence with internal departments and 3rd parties including banks, auditors, vendors, etc.
  • Assist with annual audits and provide support to external auditors
  • Analyze account variances to forecast
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports and analysis

Education:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting/Finance required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Account or Finance
  • A combination of experience and education will be considered

Experience and Training:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel proficiency (VLookups, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite) a plus

Contact with Others:

All levels of management, including Business Unit leadership and team members outside of the Finance & Accounting department

Confidentiality:

This position will be exposed to extremely confidential information and discretion is paramount. A confidentiality, non-compete, and non-solicitation agreement will be required.

Management Responsibility:

This position is seen as an individual contributor with out any management responsibilities.

Work Environment:

Must be comfortable working with financial and accounting systems in a standard office environment.
