Position Summary:
HERFF JONES, Staff Accountant, Partner Financial Services - Indianapolis

Your Opportunity: The Herff Jones team is looking for a Staff Accountant, Partner Financial Services to join our team in Indianapolis.

As the Staff Accountant, Partner Financial Services, on the Accounting & Finance Team, the staff accountant will ensure the well-being of our sales partners by performing accounting and reporting functions such as recording daily transactions, month-end reconciliations, and other financial tasks that impact our sales partners. This role will be responsible for assisting the team across various areas, including:

Sales Partner Draws, Overdraft and Debt Reserve

Cycle Counts of Sales Partner Inventory and Annual Physical Inventory

Manage the commission accounting and reporting

Forecasting Cash Disbursements to Sales Partners

Preparation of General Ledger account reconciliations

The individual hired for this position will need to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders including the independent sales partners and work collaboratively cross-functionally.

What we want you to accomplish:
Support the Sales Partner Draw process and drive continuous process documentation updates

Assist the team in forecasting all cash activity related to Commissions, Field Bank, and Accounts Receivable

Maintaining the comprehensive financial reporting to Sales Partners

Ensure Sales Partner financial information is complete and accurate, plus assist with the annual audits

Core Activities:
Prepare accounting entries, ensuring timeliness and accuracy, for various financial activities impacting our sales partners.

Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables related to banking, commissions, and other GL accounts related to Partner Financial Services.

Prepare and maintain daily cash reconciliations and work with other departments to resolve issues.

Understand, extract, and transform data from various tools and systems (PeopleSoft, Excel, other Microsoft applications, and various online reports).

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.

Develop and maintain documentation for processes, models, and daily functions.

Assist in the planned company-wide ERP implementation project.

Oversee all maintenance between our third-party banking institutions and our sales partners. (open & close accounts, prepare documentation, monitor NSFs)

Education / Certifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA exam passed is a plus

1-2 years’ experience, public accounting experience is a plus.

Understanding of internal controls and compliance with financial reporting standards

Strong in MS Office Applications, particularly excel

Use of advanced MS applications such as PowerPivot, Power Query and Power BI

Blackline experience a plus
