About the Role:

In this newly created role, the Senior Indirect Tax Accountant will report directly to the Tax Director and partner with outside tax advisors. The senior tax accountant will provide support in all areas of global indirect tax and may also assist with income tax as needed.

• Preparation, filing and review of all indirect tax returns including sales and use, gross receipts, excise and VAT/GST returns
• Maintain sales and use tax software and new nexus filing obligations
• Assist in the reconciliation of tax accounts
• Maintain state tax exemption certificates and customer VAT verification
• Approve and work with accounting to release tax payments to tax authorities
• Research and respond to all tax notices and audit inquiries
• Review purchases for use tax obligations
• Review stale payments for unclaimed property obligations
• Identify areas of potential noncompliance and help develop solutions and implement changes to comply
• Assist in enhancing and automating indirect tax compliance processes
• Gather and provide support to outside advisors to assist with the preparation of income tax provision and returns
• Assist with research and keep up to date with evolving tax requirements
• Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects as needed

About You:

• Total 4+ years of experience with a minimum of 2 years in indirect tax
• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance preferred
• Experience in a multi-state or multi-national industry is required
• Experience with international VAT and GST reporting requirements is a plus
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required
• Experience with Netsuite ERP and Avalara sales and use tax software is a plus
• Must be very organized, detail oriented and able to work under tight timelines
• Ability to work extended schedules around key reporting deadlines: monthly, quarterly, year-end
• Familiarity with Ecommerce, Direct-to-consumer, B2B business models, preferred
• Ability to work independently and team when appropriate
• Ability to prioritize effectively and communicate conflicts to affected parties
• Good written and verbal communication skills
