The Virginia Department of General Services, Office of Information Systems and Services team is seeking an experienced Applications and Integration Developer. The ideal candidate will have a solid working knowledge of message brokers (e.g. MS BizTalk 2016), dynamic mapping, and multi-client interfaces. Along with proven experience communicating interface file specifications (eg. XML, flat files, or other acceptable electronic file formats) to external organizations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Defines user system requirements and translates these requirements into computer and related manual system specifications and automated applications.
- Analyzes, designs, and specifies complex application modules.
- Provides project coordination for moderate sized projects, defining functional requirements, developing programming specifications, reviewing developed programs to determine if functional requirements have been satisfied.
- Communicating interface and integration file specifications with external organizations
- Provide technical and user support for production applications during normal business hours and occasionally after hours.
- Work directly with Business Owners & Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). This may include providing technical support and troubleshooting, system modifications, or project-based activities.
- Assist project team(s) with requirements and management including developing data models, functional requirements definition, and workflows.
- Design and develop integrations between eVA and external entities
- Write and modify SQLs and Queries.
- Write and/or assist in the development and upkeep of user guides, training materials, workflows, detailed systems documentation, and technical documentation for projects and maintenance activities.
- Assist with testing activities for internal DGS applications, DPS applications, and VDC applications.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have experience and strong working knowledge of message brokers (e.g. MS BizTalk 2016 or newer), dynamic mapping, and multi-client interfaces.
- Proven experience with developing and communicating interface file specifications in XML, flat files, or other acceptable electronic file formats.
- Needs sufficient technical skills to perform their own inquiries and reporting to conduct data analysis of data stored in various file formats such as Oracle databases and SQL Server databases.
- Must be able to participate productively in peer reviews and inspections including requirements documents, technical designs, functional specifications, and code.
- Must be highly self-directed with good oral and written communications skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills for effective communications with all levels of the business and technical organizations.
- Must be able to create solid working relationships with systems users and obtain a good understanding of their business.
- Must have experience using Windows Operating System(s) and the Microsoft Office suite of applications for word processing (Word), spreadsheets (excel and MS-access), presentation (PowerPoint), workflow diagrams (Visio) and project management software (MS Project).
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent in experience and/or training.
- eVA Interface or eVA Integrations experience (file layouts and specifications)
- Knowledge of IIS, digital certificate management, client authentication techniques, PKI, and SSL for file encryption.
- Experience with using data mapping tools to develop inbound and outbound message formats.
- Experience with MS BizTalk 2016 or newer
- Experience with .Net, XML technologies, SOAP, Web Services, and Visual Studio
- Needs knowledge or aptitude for gaining knowledge to obtain a basic understanding of data sources and processing within existing systems for problem solving and in order to make good recommendations for the logical design of enhancements.
- Needs knowledge or aptitude for gaining knowledge to create logical designs of databases, screens, processes, and reports that fit well technically within the development environment while meeting user needs.
- Proven experience developing data models, features, and workflows.
- Experience in developing user and technical documentation.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application and systems engineering.
