Job Description Summary:
POSITION SUMMARY: The SQL Server Database Manager is responsible for managing a team of SQL Server Database Administrators. This position is a hands-on technical role with responsibilities involving staff management and oversight of efficient operational processes. This role requires working alongside the team to setup, support & management of SQL Server Databases in production, test & development environments. The candidate will be responsible for creation and administration of SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022 databases in standalone, mirrored, clustered, and AlwaysOn environments. He/she must have substantial hands-on technical experience in addition to strong conceptual knowledge about SQL Server database and underlying architecture and fundamentals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education required –
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience. AWS Cloud Practitioner certification required or obtainable within 3 months of hire.
Experience required - Minimum 5 years experience. 5+ years SQL Server administration supporting a production environment; SQL Server Reporting Services; SQL Server Integration Services; Troubleshooting SQL Server database issues; Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle; ; Ability to write complex T-SQL scripts; Transparent Database Encryption implementation; Demonstrated experience in development of long-term database strategies for the enterprise environment to stay current with technology and provide the required functionality to the organization and as well as adherence to Change Control procedures and policies; Technically enthusiastic and willing to learn attitude is required; Familiarity with large IT budgeted projects, data center migration efforts, and designing disaster recovery procedures. 2+ years AWS RDS/Azure SQL.
Nice to have – Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services, Druva backup application, and Splunk
Job Summary:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and manage team of SQL Server Database Administrators
- Provide oversight of cloud-based and on-premises database environments supported by the team
- Interact with internal division managers, business lines and internal IT teams
- Ensure that excellent customer service is provided to supported programs and stakeholders
- Work alongside the team in daily tasks and lead long term projects
- Install SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022 databases
- Support SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022 databases
- Write and optimize T-SQL
- Setup and support AWS RDS/Azure SQL instances
- Build and support database replication using mirroring, clustering, log shipping, and AlwaysOn
- Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures using SQL Server maintenance plans
- Adhere and improve “best practices” documentation
- Proactively monitor the health of enterprise databases – coordinate and make changes as needed.
- Establishes and enforces all database standards and integrity
- Provide occasional after hours 24x7 support
- Effectively demonstrate on performance analysis, tuning & improvements of SQL Server database-based application systems
- Install and support SQL Server Reporting Services
- Install and support SQL Services Integration Services
- Database security and hardening (TDE, encryption in transit, etc.), knowledge of TLS a big plus
- Evaluate new tools and technologies and make recommendations
- Work to control database technology costs throughout the enterprise.

- Lead the team in the development and maintenance of data warehouse platforms, business intelligence tools, reporting/analysis dashboards, reporting databases supported by Systems.
- Manage the reporting environments, data stores such as the Data Warehouse, and Reporting Data Store applications, databases in accordance with organizational policies and goals.
- Provide direction, guidance, and technical support to clients, applications, and operations areas.
- Assign and manage contractors and staff as required.
- Analyze data requirements and develop ETL solutions to support Data Warehouse initiatives.
- Coordinate activities for ETL/OBIEE for all reports being developed or modified.

- Research and provide alternatives and recommendations based on best practices and application functionality.
- Support Reporting Team for ETL of data and report creation for BI.
