Position: Speech and Language Pathologist - casual seasonal
Location: assigned to Schools Division -location to be determined
State Date: 2023-2024 School Year
Reports to: Principal/Director - Student Services
Compensation: Refer to current teacher salary scale on District website
Work Year: 10 months
POSITION GOAL:
To create and sustain an educational environment conducive to the fulfillment of the District’s Mission so that maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. A teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction based on the approved curriculum and Common Core State Standards to help students move towards academic proficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
1. Current State of Delaware Speech and Language Hearing License
2. Master degree in Speech and Language Pathology
3. Proficient in Technology, Microsoft office applications, Children’s educational
Software, etc.
4. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and
socioeconomic groups
5. Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in
promoting student learning while increasing student achievement
6. Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks
7. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
8. Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry
in the State of Delaware.
9. Must be able to teach/serve students remotely and in person depending on the
needs of their students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Assess students to identify Generate, implement and monitor Individualized
Educational Programs
2. Administers appropriate and required informal and formal assessments based on student needs and State Regulations
3. Collects and interprets data and utilizes it to modify instruction, content, and to report progress to parents and school district.
4. Summarizes assessment results and provides information to other staff members and administrators for IEP development and/or periodic reviews.
5. Works with the IEP team (for identified students) or the school based team to decide which services are needed for the student to be successful.
6. Write evaluation reports and maintain case records for students.
7. Collaborates /communicates with related service providers, parents, and school district staff
8. Follow the appropriate protocols when questions, issues, and/or concerns arise.
9. Apprises all parties who have a legitimate educational interest in the student of meetings, concerns, progress, and other issues.
10. Establishes and maintains a cooperative and professional relationship with peers, support staff, parents, administration, agency staff and school district personnel.
11. Complies with Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies
12. Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timelines.
13. Utilizes all available resource materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative Procedures, School District Board Policies, etc.) to complete required paperwork, maintain professionalism and to avoid potential violations/noncompliance.
14. Cooperates with Federal, State and Local Agency Personnel during Alternative Education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute resolution activities.
15. Remains current in certification research, instructional strategies, & technology
16. Attends in-service programs, mandated trainings and self-selected workshops, conferences, courses, etc.
17. Reads journal articles, investigates internet resources and collaborates with other professionals and/or mentors.
18. Participates in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice consistent with best practice to meet licensed requirements.
19. Provides professional development to staff when necessary.
20. Complies with Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies
21. Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timelines.
22. Utilizes all available resource materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative Procedures, School District Board Policies, etc.) to complete required paperwork, maintain professionalism and to avoid potential violations/noncompliance.
23. Cooperates with Federal, State and Local Agency Personnel during Alternative Education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute resolution activities.
24. Remains current in certification research, instructional strategies, & technology
25. Attends in-service programs, mandated training and self-selected workshops, conferences, courses, etc.
26. Reads journal articles, investigates internet resources and collaborates with other professionals and/or mentors.
27. Keeps certificate current and active by monitoring status, including Clock hours, on the DEEDS website.
28. Shall perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned.
