Green Mountain Union High School is looking for a licensed special education teacher to work with middle school and high school students for the 2023-2024 school year. Responsibilities include: Providing instruction to students with disabilities individually, in groups, or within their classroom. Collaborating with teachers to identify best practices for differentiated instruction, designing and implementing Individual Education Plans for students. In addition, the Special Education Case Manager shall collect, review, update and securely store student files, convene and facilitate IEP and special education comprehensive evaluation meetings and reviews.

Experience developing post-secondary transition plans, planning behavior assessments, specialized reading, writing or math instruction as well as familiarity with technology/digital learning and co-teaching preferred.POSITION DESCRIPTION: TITLE: Special Education Case ManagerQUALIFICATIONS: 1. Excellent communication skills including interpersonal, written and oral. 2. Knowledge of curriculum modification based on understanding of learning theory and pedagogy practices in basic skill areas of reading, writing, speaking and mathematics.

3. Ability to work with diverse populations of students, staff and parents. 4. Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to collaboration with regular education staff, and inclusion of special needs students in regular education environment.

5. Knowledge and skills regarding Individual Education Plan (IEP) development. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Facilitate and coordinate all information about assigned students for the purposes of developing, implementing and evaluating individual education plans for students identified as eligible for receiving special education.

2. Facilitate communication among all team members as needed to insure the provision of FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education) to IEP students. 3. Develop, with team input, appropriate Evaluations and IEPs, to insure a FAPE.

4. Work collaboratively with all teachers and all administration to enhance student achievement in all settings. 5. Comply with all state and federal regulations regarding procedural safeguards and follow all WSWSU best practices guides and directives.

6. Develop a professional development plan to ensure their ability to provide FAPE to all IEP students. 7. Perform other duties as the Principal, Special Education Coordinator or Superintendent may from time to time assign or designate.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Coordination with Regular Education a. Set schedules and times for direct services for students to receive services b. Communicate regularly with the classroom teachers of assigned students in order to provide ongoing instructional and resource support and advice.

c. Communicate to regular education staff about IEP goals/objectives, and the accommodations that are needed for assessment and/or instruction by assigned students d. Schedule and facilitate planning team meetings as needed e. Become an integral part of school community f.

Participate in school and supervisory union meetings, training and other activities that foster meeting the school action plan 2. Assessment and Evaluation a. Develop evaluation plans and coordinate the completion of all components of the plan b. Complete educational testing related to all basic skill areas (except oral expression, listening comprehension, motor) c.

Coordinate and integrate information provided by outside evaluators d. Effectively communicate the results of all assessments to parents and other educators 3. Provision of Special Education Services a. Provide direct service and support to IEP students through a range of collaborative, inclusion and pull-out programs as appropriate to students individual needs and based on evaluation data b.

Provide appropriate training and supervision to teacher assistants who work with assigned students c. Recommend and access appropriate curriculum materials for assigned students d. Facilitate the appropriate use of assistive technology to address identified student needs 4. Case Management a.

To serve as case manager for assigned students and follow all established district procedures regarding the identification, evaluation, and placement of such students b. Be familiar with and process all required legal paperwork related to the identification, evaluation and placement of assigned students in a timely manner c. Schedule and conduct meetings related to planning and implementing a comprehensive program for assigned students d. In a timely manner, provide reports of program and student progress as requested by administration e.

Effectively problem solve student needs with the team f. Access appropriate administration in a timely manner when needed for technical assistance g. Maintain student files per WSWSU protocol h. Maintain documentation logs for all communications with parents 5.

Work with Parents a. Maintain positive communication with parents b. Inform parents of student progress through regular written reports and meetings c. Appropriately inform parents regarding their due process rights and responsibilities
