This is a unique position looking for a candidate willing to help support our Special Education population at the Idaho Youth Challenge Academy. Ideally this person would have experience working with special education students and at-risk populations. Currently we have one special education teacher who also teaches Life Skills/Personal Finance and if hired this candidate would work with our team to support the documentation and intervention needs of our student population and potentially aid in teaching Life Skills and Personal Finance. Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) or the ability to obtain the proper endorsement(s) via a state program.Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods. Strong background in the integration of technology with instruction. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
Work well with students, staff and the public. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.The Idaho Youth ChalleNGe Academy, Idahos premier academic intervention for at-risk youth, has an opening beginning immediately for a Special Education Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with at-risk youth who live in a residential setting.
Selected candidate will be expected to accomplish all program specific training in a timely manner. Preference will be given to candidates with additional certification areas or with experience working with at risk youth in an alternative school setting. Applicant must be proficient in oral and written communication, and have a solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications and Google Classroom applications. The School District uses the Skyward student management system.
IDYCA operates on a calendar different than the local school district. We have two 22-week sessions per year running roughly mid-July through December and mid January through June with additional staff training required. If hired, applicant will receive an additional contract and compensation for the fourteen extended contract days required for this position each year.Benefits: Employee medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage paid 100% by thedistrict. Family benefits paid at 80% coverage.
