POSITION TITLE: Special Ed Teacher

LOCATION: Flatonia Elementary

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with FISD Teacher Pay Schedule

LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 187 days

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences

designed to help them fulfill their potential for academic success

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education

endorsements for assignment

Experience: Successful classroom teaching experience preferred, but not mandatory

Licenses/Other: Hold valid Texas Teaching Certificate

PK – 12 Special Education

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES: 

Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills 

Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency 

Must be familiar with classroom management techniques 

Maintain all records and documentation required by TEA and local administration 

Work cooperatively and constructively with other faculty, staff and administration 

Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration 

Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area 

Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual
Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation 

Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs 

Effective communication skills
