Job Description for Primary Front of House Sound Technician

Reports to: Technical Director

Purpose: The Primary Front of House Sound Technician serves as part of the Tech Team during weekend services in support of the Woodland Worship Team. The Sound Operator configures, operates, and troubleshoots all audio equipment used in the execution of worship services and special events. This includes audio equipment connection, soundboard setup/configuration, sound checks and other testing, and soundboard operation during rehearsal(s) and production of all worship services and special events.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

• A committed follower of Jesus who confesses Him as Savior and Lord of his/her life and a lifestyle that reflects characteristics of holy living (Colossians 3)
• A Heart for worshiping God.
• Commitment and ability to work in and contribute to a team-based environment.
• Has experience mixing audio in a live environment.
• Has experience with digital mixing consoles as well as networking audio (Dante).
• Solid understanding of industry standard practices and techniques.
• Ability to think quickly and trouble shoot properly in high stress situations.
• Willing to attend training sessions and read/watch other training material for improving existing skills.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Arrive at the scheduled time and begin review of cue sheets and other information related to the service or special event.
• Evaluate the status of the soundboard and reconfigure it as needed.
• Check, replace batteries in, and distribute wireless microphones and other equipment as needed to equip band members, speakers, etc.
• Coordinate and direct sound checks with band members and others involved in the production to ensure equipment is functioning properly and that proper sound levels and sound mix is obtained.
• Attend walk-through meetings along with other production team members to review the service order and other important service production details.
• Conduct rehearsal to fully understand service details and to practice transitions and audio cues as needed to minimize distractions during the service(s).
• Coordinate with other Tech Team members to produce the service/special event as planned.
• Attend band practice the week before the weekend you are scheduled to serve.
• Under the supervision of the Tech Director, conduct regular maintenance of sound equipment in Kids and Students Worship environments.
• Recruitment and training of potential team members
• Produce Recordings for online playback
• Stage setup and teardown

Time Required: 30 hours a week ($20/hr starting pay), opportunities for more hours during special events.

STANDARD HOURS

10 hours of Worship Team rehearsals and worship services

Rehearsal: Thursday 5pm-9pm
Services: Sunday 7am-1pm

NON-STANDARD HOURS

20 hours throughout the week.

These will include weekly Middle School Worship, monthly Senior Adult luncheons, quarterly Nights of Worship, seasonal school program, etc. These hours will also be used to maintain equipment throughout the Woodland Campus and will be coordinated with the Tech Director.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
