The Drafter leads SolidWorks Computer Aided Design (CAD) drafting support for CVI Engineering and Operations. Supports ongoing production and new product development, while simultaneously identifying opportunities for improvement to increase efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Including but not limited to
- Prepare engineering models and drawings for mechanical and optomechanical parts and assemblies
- Comprehend and utilize Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Calculate dimensions and tolerance stack up
- Interface with internal and external machine shops
- Review and propose design modification to increase production efficiency
- Upload design records (models and drawings) to the CVI document repository
- Provide timely updates for drawing completion and workload
- Coordinate with other colleagues regarding complex diagrams
- Identifies, recommends, and drives opportunities for improvement within the design record creation process.

- Independent initiative and ability to efficiently acquire substantial knowledge of CVI’s manufacturing processes, procedures and products.

PROFESSIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Previous experience in mechanical drafting
- Working proficiency in Solidworks
- Ability to read, understand, and apply a variety of job-related instructions and documents, including engineering drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks both of similar and varying priority.
- Demonstrated ability to be deadline and detail-oriented
- Working knowledge of ASME and ISO drawing standards preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
This position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations; this person must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
