Polaris Alpha® Advanced Systems, a Parsons Company, is hiring Software Developers/Engineers whose role will be essential to the design, implementation, and delivery of high performance, secure, mission critical solutions. We seek engineers that are versatile, display leadership qualities, and are enthusiastic to tackle new challenges as we continue to provide the military with cutting edge tools. For this position, the Software Engineer will analyze, design, and implement advanced capabilities on multiple research & development and production projects in Eatontown NJ. The role includes design and implementation of software modules based on established and evolving requirements, with strong consideration for interoperability and software architecture openness.
Responsibilities:
- Design and development of software of software solutions that address diverse and complex problem-spaces in an Agile development environment
- The integration of software with existing and already deployed systems
- Working with Systems Engineering to interpret customer requirements and build features / services to specification
- Working with the team and customer to investigate and resolve problems as projects mature
- Authoring design, interface, and user documentation
- Software configuration management using Git or similar tools
- Support periodic design reviews
- Support Agile sprint planning activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering: design, development, integration, test, deployment and support.
- Experience developing in one or more of: C++, Javascript / Typescript / Angular, Web Development technologies and architectures (ex: Angular, React, NodeJS, REST, Web Sockets, etc…), Microservices (Kubernetes, Docker, containerization)
- Experience with Development, Build and Configuration tools for example the Atlassian toolset (e.g., Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Confluence)
- Excellent organizational, communications, problem-solving and people skills, be a self-starter, and enjoy being part of and contributing to a hard-working team.
- Must have the ability to quickly learn and creatively leverage new technologies.
- Ability to work with different development environments depending on the team’s preference and/or history
- Familiar with UML, Test Driven Development, Design Pattern Implementation, Agile Software Development
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. While a security clearance is not required, it may be in the future so candidates should have or have held a clearance or be clearable
- Must be able to travel. Anticipated travel level 5%-10%.
Desired Capabilities:
- Software development lifecycle experience (SDLC), especially within the DoD
- Experience with Government standards and procedures.
- Experience with or knowledge of U.S. Army mission command systems
- Experience migrating legacy applications to modern frameworks
- Experience / familiarity with digital terrain / geospatial
