About the role:
This position is responsible primarily for architecting, developing, integrating, and troubleshooting software that controls and/or provides services to control systems for plant operations. This role will keep things fresh as you'll work with a variety of different programming languages and software stacks. Some opportunity for remote work.
The person filling this position will perform the following duties:
- Work safely with a safety-first mentality.
- Work as a member of a multi-person control system and automation team.
- Work with PC programs as well as PLC and SCADA systems to improve production efficiency and improve the automation systems.
- Design, implement, integrate, and maintain computer systems to support manufacturing needs.
- Analyze event logs and historical data to perform root cause investigations, and design solutions to any issues discovered.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to further automate the unit and solve problems.
- Develop training documents for new systems and improve documentation for existing systems.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum 3 years’ engineering-related experience, plus a BS degree in engineering or computer science related field is preferred. Incumbent must have the capability for quality ordered thinking, coupled with leadership ability, and be able to function in a positive, challenging, and participative work environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to quickly pick up new technologies.
- Experience with high-level object-oriented languages such as Python or C#.
- Experience with low-level languages such as C or Fortran.
- Experience with data serialization particularly binary formats and JSON.
- Experience with distributed systems, databases, and message queues.
- Experience with version control systems especially Git
Desired Skills:
- Comfortable working in multiple operating systems.
- Experience with TCP/IP
- Experience with PLCs and SCADA systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
