Job description
Maxar is seeking a software engineer to join our team in Ypsilanti, MI. In this role, you will be working to produce and maintain an advanced aircraft maintenance system supporting the DoD as part of a small, dedicated, multi-disciplinary team of developers, engineers, and testers. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of languages and technologies (including Java, JavaScript, WebGL, C++, and Python) to develop data processing utilities, web services, user interfaces, and 3D visualizations that allow our customers to keep their fleets operating at peak performance.
What will you be doing?
- Designing, implementing, and testing large, complex software systems across all layers of the software stack using Java, JavaScript, C++, and Python.
- Refactoring legacy software to current best practices and deployment paradigms, such as containerization.
- Investigating and debugging large, complex codebases to provide bug fixes and usability enhancements.
- Maintaining CI/CD infrastructure to ensure the quality of our software products.
Minimum Requirements:
- US citizenship with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 2 years of relevant experience.
- Professional experience in Java or C++.
- Familiarity with web development.
- Willingness to work on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- Professional experience with JavaScript and Python.
- Professional experience with Spring, Hibernate, or similar Java frameworks.
- Experience with jQuery, Three.js, React, Ember.js, or similar frontend frameworks and libraries.
- Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar database management systems.
- Experience with Git and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of RESTful web service design and implementation.
- Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes and container deployment best practices.
