(Social Services Worker 2 - Classification)
Job Location: Chillicothe, Logan or McArthur, OH
Probationary Rate: $30.00
Post Probationary Rate: $31.80
Probationary Period: 365 days
Pay Range: $30.00-$43.92
Pay is negotiable based on like work experience and education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Acts as Administrator over Adult & Child Protective Services program for three county area (Hocking, Ross & Vinton), conferring with director as necessary (e.g.: interprets, implements, plans, develops, controls & directs policy & procedure to achieve defined objectives with maximum efficiency & effective administration of programs; provides oversight & direction to supervisory & direct service staff to ensure programs, policies & procedures remain in compliance with Federal, State & local laws, rules & regulations; monitors production control, performance measures & expenditures; negotiates contracts with other entities; approves provider invoices; participates in RFP processes).
Develops & implements procedures with Juvenile Court, County Prosecutor and other community stakeholders to ensure efficient processes and collaboration. May have to testify in Court. Ensures Executive Director & other appropriate parties are properly informed regarding potential problems & provides recommendation regarding necessary action. Hosts & coordinates meetings; coordinates special program or employee events as assigned, working with community partners when applicable.
Supervises & assigns worker duties to Supervisory & other subordinate, direct-service staff; ensures subordinate staff is properly trained & evaluates their performance, completing & signing performance evaluations. Reviews resumes & interviews job applicants as part of Interview Team. Makes recommendations to the director to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline subordinates. Provides adjustments & solutions to grievances at the supervisory level in accordance with the Personnel Policy Manual. Screens leave requests & recommends approval or denial. Attends conferences, meetings, & training to give & receive information pertaining to administered program areas & to meet annual training requirements specified in the Ohio Revised Code; acts as liaison with other agencies.
Represents agency in meetings & participates in interpreting Child Welfare & Adult Protective Services programs & policies for community organizations in developing resources & inter-agency cooperation. Assists with customer problem resolution & handles complaints that workers & unit supervisors could not resolve. Represents Executive Director or other Program/Site Managers as assigned. Assists Executive Director in special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years experience as a Social Services Supervisor 1, 30134;
- Or completion of undergraduate major core coursework or two years technical training in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development technology, education or related field. Also requires two years experience in a position similar to a Social Services Supervisor 1, 31034;
- Or two courses in adult psychology one of which must be in the area of gerontology or twelve months experience, two courses or twelve months experience in child psychology, two courses or twelve months experience in social welfare or other sociology-related topic, two courses or twelve months experience in counseling, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, one course or six months experience in domestic violence, and one course or six months experience in courtroom procedures. Also requires two years experience in a position similar to a Social Services Supervisor 1, 31034;
- Or education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum.
Must have driving record sufficient to meet insurability requirements under SCOJFS liability policy.
