Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of five health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate all aspects of ongoing mental health services research studies under the direction of Dr. Thomas. We work with a multidisciplinary team from DPOP, the School of Medicine, and across the US, to perform patient-centered outcomes research funded by PCORI and other funders. This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the testing and evaluation of policies and interventions to improve quality of mental health care for children and adolescents with emotional and developmental conditions and build parent self-efficacy. This position requires clinic-based in-person recruitment as well as significant time conducting online interviews. Specific responsibilities include: 1) Coordinating study participation at the two UNC Chapel Hill clinics, including obtaining informed consent/assent, recruiting participants, and scheduling data collection appointments; 2) Conducting computer-supported interviews with participants, documenting trial protocols and collecting audio-recordings; 3) Data entry into the web based system; and 4) High quality communication with study participants and team.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

- Knowledge of informed consent procedures. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with parents and youth with IDD and their clinical providers. Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- MPH or similar master’s degree in a discipline related to public health or bachelor’s degree and equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
- Experience working with children and/or families with members with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred. Fluency in Spanish would be welcome.
