JG Development Small Projects Manager

About the Job

The small projects manager will fulfill a key part of the building experience for clients of a local and employee-owned residential contractor. The role will facilitate and execute warranty work on high-end residential new construction and remodeling projects, manage the companies time and material (T&M) projects and complete punch list on projects. You will be working closely with other project managers, project coordinator, and subcontractors. This position is based in our Blue Mounds office, 25 minutes southwest of Madison, WI.

What You’ll Do

  • Respond to inbound warranty requests with client and follow up with site visit.
  • Document client needs and expectations to accurately estimate project and submit bids from subcontractors.
  • Select and coordinate subcontractors to do the work as needed.
  • Self-perform carpentry work on projects when warranted.
  • Manage Time & Material jobs.
  • Work with project managers and clients to complete substantial completion walk on projects and ensure punch list items are scheduled and completed.
  • Develop project schedules in company software and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Complete work according to company quality standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation to company and client.
  • Communicate any issues with client’s expectations or projects with appropriate personnel.
  • Inventory materials and tools to ensure work will meet project timelines and budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Experience working in both remodel and new construction is highly preferred
  • Minimum two years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suites
  • Carpentry experience is preferred
  • Experience working with clients and resolving issues in a tactful and professional manner
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Knowledge of safe working methods
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills; ability to adjust communication style appropriately to meet the needs of the customer
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work safety and follow company and OSHA safety standards at all times
  • Able to climb ladders, work with tools, lumber and materials, and lift & manipulate objects
  • Ability to be flexible in the work environment and willing and able to adapt to changing organizational needs
  • Ability to travel within Wisconsin and other states as necessary; must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license and proof of personal auto liability insurance meeting Wisconsin’s minimum requirement
  • Successful completion of background check.
