Job Purpose

Join Sanmina’s global PCB division in San Jose, CA, as a Signal Integrity Engineer in the corporate SI Lab. Our lab’s mission is to advance high speed capabilities and technologies within Sanmina in support of industry OEM’s high speed system needs. You will have the opportunity to work on projects to support world leading PCB technologies that push the boundaries of high speed customer and Sanmina internal designs. We offer a dynamic laboratory and learning environment in a team that supports multiple Sanmina divisions. As the Signal Integrity Engineer, you will manage support of PCB/PCBA high speed test and measurement needs, contribute to development of new PCB technologies and capabilities, and contribute to analysis and validation of cutting edge high speed storage and server products. In addition, you will work with Sanmina’s Sales team and FAEs to support customer technical consulting requirements.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

• Definition of optimized serial link channels through modeling and performance prediction
• Collaboration with customer product engineering teams and Sanmina product divisions to improve system performance and robustness
• Model to hardware correlation of serial link channels; performance validation
• Measurement and extraction of electrical model parameters from PCB samples
• Manage support of PCB factories’ high speed test and measurement needs
• Execute initiatives supporting PCB factories’ high speed technology and capabilities roadmap
• Power delivery modeling, simulation, and characterization for systems and PCBs
• Support Sanmina Backplane PCBA test and measurement needs
• Evaluate customer PCB designs and test vehicles; collaborate with customers regarding results
• Educate and support Sanmina’s PCB field applications engineers and sales people
• Collaborate with Sanmina divisions

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields and 10+ years of related professional experience
• Master’s degree and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related fields with 5+ years of experience
• Experience in SI/PI methodology development, SI performance prediction, PDN modeling from system to die, and lab model to hardware correlation and validation
• Deep knowledge of DDR4/5 JEDEC specs and SERDES standards (PCIE, Ethernet, SAS, etc.)
• Deep understanding of power supply architecture covering voltage regulator technologies, PCB and package design trends and trade-offs
• Good knowledge in 3D/2D EM simulation modeling tools and performance prediction tools (ANSYS / HFSS; Sigrity, CST, ADS, Spice, Matlab, IBIS-AMI, etc.)
• Good knowledge on packaging and PCB technology
• Knowledgeable with lab equipment including but not limited to VNA, probe station, microprobes, real-time scope, spectrum analyzer
• Knowledgeable with S-parameter manipulation for loss and electrical parameter extraction
• Understanding of phase noise and jitter and their effects on signaling performance
• Understanding of PCB materials, technologies, stack-ups and impact on performance
• Good oral and written communication skills, ability to work well in a collaborative team environment .

Salary Range(annual): $80,000.00-$125,000.00
