Job description
The Sign Shop Supervisor supervises the construction and installation of a variety of signs, roadway striping, and other traffic control devices in accordance with the Oregon Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This position plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff involved in sign maintenance and striping. In addition, the Sign Shop Supervisor evaluates and assess operations and activities of assigned responsibilities recommending improvements and modifications.
Additional duties specific to the following areas of assignment are expected in accordance with the incumbent’s specific skills and experience:
- Oversee maintenance and fabrication of signs, signals, and pavement markings.
- Inspect work sites to ensure proper and efficient operations and procedures.
- Respond and assemble crews to respond to emergency situations such as fire, flood, and snow.
- Maintain and manage necessary project records and budgets.
- Develop and implement training programs as necessary.
- Resolve complex and sensitive customer service issues by setting and evaluating work standards.
- Monitor and procure inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment and develop applicable specifications.
- Prepare, review, and maintain a variety of records and reports related to day-to-day Sign Shop operations and activities.
About the Division
The Road Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the County transportation system including some state highways and city streets under contract with Lane County. Although the majority of equipment and employees in Road Maintenance are based at the Delta Complex, satellite shops are located near Cottage Grove, Dexter, Veneta, and Florence. A crew and equipment are assigned to each Road Maintenance Zone. The Bridge Projects Crew and Vegetation Crew are headquartered at Delta and work throughout the County.
Schedule: Monday - Thursday; 6:30 am to 5:00 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Up to one year of technical or specialized training beyond high school
- 5 or more years of progressively responsible maintenance experience related to area of assignment;
- At least 1 year of lead level experience.
- Supervisor (N4321) – 5-8 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience related to area of assignment.
- Specialized knowledge specific to area of assignment may be required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
