OVERVIEW

We’re currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Shopper Marketing Manager to join our growing team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Shopper Marketing Manager is responsible for taking insights into action by identifying shopper insights, needs and behaviors for strategic channels and customers, while supporting a robust understanding of retail brand equity, including drivers of store choice. These insights will be synthesized into actionable insights platforms and channel/customer marketing strategies designed to increase shopper engagement, improve shopper experience, and increase conversion to purchase. This role will also be responsible for developing and leading program execution for both strategic national and regional accounts. This role will collaborate with Customer and Brand Marketing and other cross functional teams to ensure all client specific activation of shopper marketing programs are cost effective and aligned with brand strategy. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Consumer Insights Team to develop and embed a methodology for shopper and customer insights (including retailer brand equity) for the USA market. This will include formulating key shopper questions and hypothesis, research methodology and approach to take insights into action. This role will use shopper research, consumer insights, and an understanding of the retailer strategies and objectives to define insight-based shopper marketing programs that achieve customer, brand, and company goals within the specified class of trade.
  • Developing insights from shopper and retailer studies to develop Shopper Activation Platforms which will identify key activation territories by brand and product format within strategic channel and customers.
  • Leading the development of multi-touchpoint shopper marketing campaigns and initiatives based on shopper insight and strong understanding of retailer strategy to drive shopper conversion.
  • Defining and embedding channel shopper strategies, including channel portfolios strategy, merchandising strategy and touch point plan, as well as shopper messaging by touch point and by brand, and aligning the channel shopper strategy with key internal stakeholders (ie. Brand, Customer, and Channel Marketing Teams, etc.) and ensuring activity is embedded in the sales planning process.
  • Leading the creative and/or agency teams in designing and reviewing messaging on shopper facing assets such as in-store displays, semi/permanent fixtures, shelf signage, retailer digital assets, new technologies, bonus packs, gift sets, and special packs to ensure that brand strategy and guidelines are reflected throughout and sales goals are met. This will include consideration of channel and customer shopper needs in creative development, plus identification of collaboration opportunities exist with corporate stakeholders on PVM global brands.
  • Working closely with cross functional team including Key Sales, Planning, Brand marketing, Category and RGM managers to ensure timely evaluation of activities and share results and learnings both internally and with customers.
  • Managing and reporting on customer-specific shopper marketing budget to ensure correct allocation of resources.
  • Reviewing and benchmarking proposed customer-specific marketing initiatives put forth by the Sales team to confirm cost efficacy and compliance with existing brand strategy and guidelines.
  • Creating fact-based vetting for Sales-recommend initiatives to decline or approve incoming recommendations
  • Monitoring business trends as they relate to shopper marketing to understand the competitive landscape and to ensure that the organization continues to use industry best practices.
  • Building the understanding of shopper and customer insights across the organization, including activities such as shopper safaris and shopper ideation sessions with the purpose to build awareness and consideration of shopper and retailer needs with cross functional stakeholders.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field. MBA a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in marketing or sales is required; prior shopper or customer marketing/insights experience is strongly preferred.
  • Agency or CPG experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with national retailer teams (ie. Category Managers, Merchants, Marketing Managers, Insights Managers, etc) and marketing agencies strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of account specific Marketing tactics and commercial timelines strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of brand/category portfolio and retail channels and corresponding category dynamics preferred.
  • Ability to tell and sell the story to internal and external customers and agencies.
  • Strong analytical skills including experience with IRI/Syndicated Data required.
