Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk reports to the Shipping Supervisor and is responsible for clerical activities in support of the Warehouse & Shipping department. The position assists in the coordination of inbound and outbound shipments with both suppliers, internal and external customers, and their agents.
Job Elements & Position Responsibilities
- Performs a wide variety of administrative and duties that surround the receipt and shipment of goods.
- Creates, compiles, and runs using SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Enters shipment data in to carrier and customer portals.
- Scans and uploads shipping documents and maintains diversified files, and documents.
- Creates and maintains various measurements tables and charts as required.
- Assists in ISO procedural documentation as required.
- Answers phones and communicates internal and external customers, suppliers, and freight providers.
- Inputs data in SAP that effects dollars shipped, goods received, and Inventory Record Accuracy.
- Order Shipping and Departmental supplies as requested
- Assist with housekeeping and cycle counting
- Assists with Dock Appointment Scheduling and system updates.
- May, on occasion, be asked to operate a forklift or material handling equipment.
Required Qualifications
· High School diploma or GED equivalent.
· Good Computer Skills (MS Office, & Outlook)
· Able to learn SAP’s transactions relating to Shipping Functions using both keyboard and scanner devices.
· Must be able to drive a forklift and attain the proper OSHA certification.
· Detail oriented and quality conscious, with excellent organizational skills.
· Must be courteous, tactful, and a good team player. Customer focused.
· Must be able to manage multiple priorities.
· Must be able to discern shades of color relating to material movement process.
· Must possess basic math skills.
· Must be able to hear warning signals and verbal alerts to avoid injury.
· Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to communicate and understand relevant information.
· Must follow all OSHA related rules and regulations as well as company safety policies.
Marginal Job Functions
- Acts as back-up for the Shipping Coordinator
- Performs general housekeeping duties including sweeping and dusting.
- Team Player
- Ability to work overtime as needed
Non-Mandatory Job Qualifications (Not absolutely required, but enhance chance for success)
- Understanding of Lean Warehouse Concepts
- Desire to advance in the Logistics organization
