PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Shift Electrician will be responsible for assisting Production Supervisor in all aspects related to safe & efficient process and production operation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
WORK REQUIREMENTS: This statement reflects the general elements considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and is not considered a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job. Other duties are required by daily conditions.
- Performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical/electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials and principle of operation and application of equipment including PLC's (programmable logic controllers) and supporting computer systems.
- Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment to determine material or replacement needs.
- Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts or replaces faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic, etc. Reassembles, tests, and adjust equipment for safe and proper operation. Performs work on "hot" lines as required.
Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, electronic parts, etc.
- Installs conduits, fittings, switches, controls and fixtures, and wires and connects all types of electrical equipment as required for new installations or replacement of facilities. Makes all required splices and connector joints.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
- Locates sources of trouble of any type of electrical/electronic equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation.
- Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical procedures.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of radiation; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Able to work effectively as a valued team member within a diverse environment with all levels of personnel to include management and hourly employees.
- Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English language, communicate positively with other employees at all levels.
- Ability to work as a team member
- Must have availability to work some nights/weekends and off-hour call outs.
- Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty and near hot kiln process.
- Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground).
- Climb stairs and ladders as high as 200 feet in elevation.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.52 per hour
