The North Polk Community School District is a progressive educational community located in the Des Moines metro area just north of Ankeny serving the communities of Alleman, Elkhart, Polk City, and Sheldahl. The District proudly serves over 2000 learners from preschool through 12th grade in five buildings (West Elementary, PK thru 2nd; Big Creek Elementary, 3-5th; Central Elementary, PK thru 5th, Middle School, 6th-8th; and High School, 9th-12th).
North Polk's Big Creek and West Elementary Schools, located in Polk City, are seeking to hire a shared Elementary Dean.
Under the direction of the elementary principals, the Elementary Dean will serve as an instructional leader in coordination and administration of school programs including instruction, assessment, student conduct and attendance, and the supervision and evaluation of assigned personnel.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist designated building principals in the overall administration of the schools to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students.
- Serve as principal designee in instances of principal absence.
- Collaborate with principals, instructional coaches, school leadership teams, and district administration.
- Work with collaborative teams to support the work of the PLC process.
- Support principals in hiring and onboarding new staff.
- Evaluate assigned certified and classified staff.
- Assist in the management and oversight of personnel matters.
- Participate in IEP meetings as LEA representative to support the needs and success of students, while maintaining compliance with State and Federal Law.
- Oversee the coordination, communication, and implementation of student 504 plans.
- Assist principal in student behavior management including leading and facilitating tier 2 and 3 behavior interventions.
- Communicate and collaborate to problem solve student, parent, and staff concerns while maintaining effective relationships with all stakeholders.
- Assist in establishing, implementing, and maintaining effective building safety and emergency protocols.
- Facilitate and oversee committee meetings, as assigned.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned.
Specifications/Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa PK-12 Professional Administrator License
- Master's degree in Education related field
- Evaluator Approval Endorsement
- At least five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher or administrator.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
This role will be working in an elementary school environment. Must have the ability to communicate orally/telephone and in writing/email as well as proficiency in evaluating written materials. Physical requirements include kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing moderately weight.
