Job description
Harrison Steel has openings in its shakeout area for our sand molding lines. The shake out area is responsible for removing steel castings from the sand mold and separating all of the parts of the mold to be either reused or recycled. Various duties of the position includes:
- Separating sand, steel chills, rebar, and other materials to be reused
- Operating shakeout machinery which breaks down sand into reuseable sizes
- Hooking crane chains to castings and flasks
- Operating a skid steer and fork truck
- Cleaning and shoveling sand
Qualifications and Skills
- Enjoys hands-on work
- Basic math & reading skills
- Work well in a team setting and with others
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Works safely and observes all safety procedures
Work Environment:
The employee regularly work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Must be able to wear a respirator. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
