Service Technician

In this position, you will provide technical support for GPG Power Protection Service, Electrification Smart Power (ELSP) in Richmond, Virginia, delivering superior, professional service, remotely or on site. You will be responsible to execute service work according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines. Deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. In close co operation with customer and other ABB teams, take actions to identify new Service business opportunities for ABB.
Your responsibilities
- Health, safety and integrity: Applies safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities. Reports unsafe practices and incidents
- Customer focus: Contributes to customer satisfaction by planning and executing Service work according to customer order and expectation
- Clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in the direct area of responsibility
- Ensures customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations
- While on site, work with the customer to identify opportunities for improving the customers operations and eliminating pain points
- Utilize the local practices for notifying the account team of opportunities
- Service delivery: Performs field service tasks, identifies technical problems and makes analysis through remote or on site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform
- Coaches associate technicians and associate engineers
- Materials and supply: Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensures that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities
- Documentation and reports: Prepares all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative. Utilize all relevant tools
- Reports work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot Equipment/Process failures and requests proactive corrective actions and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
- Service excellence: Proactively plans and executes work on a first time right approach with customers and ensures the job is done on time and on quality
- Identifies improvement needs and potential solutions for them in the way of working
- People leadership and development: Provides technical guidance to associates
- Acts as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers
Your background
- Associate degree in engineering or related field and 1 to 3 years of experience, or alternatively, a special combination of manufacturing, quality or product testing experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
- Possesses or able to obtain an Electrical Journeyman License a plus
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
