Position Summary: In accordance with established company policies and procedures, provides a clean, pleasant and efficient dining experience is provided to all residents and visitors through effective performance of assigned Wait Staff functions and tasks.
Position Responsibilities:
- Be courteous, neat, clean and in proper uniform at all times: White collared top, bow tie, black slacks, hair net, and sturdy black shoes.
- Serve resident meals on a timely basis, ensuring proper diets; seating arrangements, etc.
- Perform duties in a quiet, efficient and respectful manner.
- Refill all jelly, sugar and salt / pepper containers after each meal.
- Vacuum and empty trash after each shift, or as needed.
- Set tables properly and follow reset procedures.
- Responsible for keeping Beverage Bar and Coffee Machine area clean and clutter-free. Washes all tables with soapy water after each meal.
- Assists with set up for special functions and serves private parties when requested.
- Ensures dining room is clean after each meal to include, but not limited to, chairs, tables, rug, condiment holders, work stations, etc.
- Assists marketing department by, providing prospects with information as requested to include properly answering telephone, and generally presenting dining services in accordance with established Standards for Dining Department.
- Cross-trains and covers dishwasher as requested.
- Attends in-service training as requested
- Other duties as directed and assigned
Essential Functions, Experience and Skills:
- Must be able to maintain satisfactory attendance as per Policy # 871 and must be able to report for duty as scheduled
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to speak and write effectively in English
- Commitment and adherence to company values and policies.
- Must be a strong team player
- Must adhere to confidentiality procedures to insure HIPAA and Morningside House standards are met or exceeded at all times.
Nonessential Skills and experience:
- Customer service skills within an assisted living environment
- High School graduate or equivalent certification preferred.
- Previous wait staff or hospitality experience preferred.
- Ability to be flexible functions independently and works under pressure with multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Must have strong organizational, problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills
This position must exhibit maturity in judgment.

May come in contact with hazardous cleaning materials. Must have ability to use vacuum cleaning equipment.
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to frequent contact with residents, family members, staff and vendors in a mostly indoor setting in an assisted living support environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
