Summary
We are in the process of building a new Roblox experience and are looking for an experienced game designer to assist us in that process. We have successfully delivered other high quality Roblox experiences such as Hasbro’s Nerf Strike and Angry Birds in the past and are looking for a senior game developer to help us ensure a high quality Roblox game.
The ideal candidate has a strong background working in game engines such as Unity, Unreal, and/or Roblox Studio and has successfully shipped at least one commercial video game in the past. The position is a full time (contract), remote role with the opportunity for becoming a full time employee in the future, and offers flexible hours (though we ask at least 6 hours per day overlap with 8am-5pm PST).
Responsibilities
- Ability to self-direct work after overall project direction is provided, creating your own tasks where needed in order to keep production moving and on schedule
- Work with current GDDs, when already drafted, and update applicably as you work through completing/updating design features and systems required for the title’s release
- Ability to create Game Design Documentation from scratch when needed, working with other leads where needed to lock down a viable design plan
- Ability to create both high level and low level specification, including state flow diagrams, data tables and visual wireframes where needed
- Ability to own major aspects of design and production, seeing core design implementation through and being able to always communicate status with others
- Ability to iterate and adapt quickly, when technical or schedule hurdles must be overcome
- Ability to greybox levels and core design features, in-engine
- Ability to script most gameplay functionality, except where heavy engineering support is needed
- Ability to raise flags and provide solutions, when design goals may no longer be relevant or capable of being completed as spec’d
Experience
- Provide examples of your ability to design gameplay mechanics, create prototype levels, and general scripting needed to create gameplay for your levels and designs
- 3+ years of Unity/Unreal or Roblox Studio experience
- 2+ years of Lua scripting experience
- Shipped at least one commercial game

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
