BASIC PURPOSE: Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely corporate tax compliance with both domestic and international authorities. Conduct research and understand new and changing domestic and international tax laws. Prepare itinerary tax analysis and related findings (VAT, GST, sales tax, etc.). Assist in preparing quarterly income tax provision pursuant to ASC 740.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct research on the tax impacts of vessel foreign itineraries and preparations of tax memoranda related to various tax positions taken.
- Conduct research to assist in determining impact of various transactions (including changes in corporate structure or operations) and domestic/foreign reporting requirements, as applicable.
- Assist with both the domestic and international aspects of the quarterly income tax provision and annual financial statement disclosure pursuant to ASC 740 (FAS 109) and FIN 48.
- Gather appropriate information and prepare domestic and international filings including sales tax, VAT, GST, freight and income taxes.
- Assist the foreign offices with local office tax filing obligations.
- Assist in preparing for audits by both US and international tax authorities.
- Maintain and organize tax documents to ensure compliance with tax authorities and other regulatory agencies.
- Assist with defining, implementing and compiling the company's sales tax, VAT, GST, and other US and international tax obligations.
- Liaise with outside tax vendors on US and international tax issues.
- Serve as a resource for tax department management in assisting with the day-to-day issues and inquiries that arise from all areas of the company.
- Preparation of CBC reporting and foreign office transfer pricing.
- Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a concentration in Taxation. Master's degree in Tax a plus, or any equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education. CPA license a plus.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years' experience in a large corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Strong organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong proficiency with computers including Microsoft applications. Strong proficiency with tax software applications. Strong research and analytical skills. Ability to analyze, interpret and clearly communicate data. Strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with internal and external clients to accomplish goals.
